The Windward Islands are a volcanic chain stretching from Guadeloupe
to Grenada. The major islands in this chain are, from north to south: Guadeloupe,
Dominica, Martinique, St. Lucia, St. Vincents, and Grenada; and to
the east of the chain is the coral-reef island of Barbados. There are also
many smaller islands. Most of the islands have active volcanos.
The Windward Islands are all independent nations, with the exception of
the two French islands of Martinique and Guadeloupe which are “départements
de France,” or integral parts of France. The other islands all have
English-speaking populations. Four of the islands (Guadeloupe, Dominica,
Martinique, and St. Lucia) have a second language called Patois. The total
population of the Windward Islands is approximately 1,600,000.
The United Pentecostal Church in the Windward Islands numbers 1,700
constituents, 14 churches and preaching points, and 13 licensed national
ministers. Bible school has been used with great success, especially on the
French island of Martinique, but also with programs in Grenada and in
Barbados. Bible school has been very instrumental in producing ministers
and lay workers. Today literature development is a major goal, especially for
the French areas. Sunday school literature, Bible school courses, tracts,
and small booklets have been, and are currently being, developed and distributed.
Both the International Alpha Bible Course and the Discover Wonderful
Truths Bible Course have been widely used in the Windward Islands.

Bio: Devin and Brandi Doyle are lifelong residents of Starks, LA, where they attend The First Pentecostal Church. Prior to being involved in Missions work, the Doyles served as youth ministers in their local assembly for two years. Since that time they have traveled to the Windward Islands for three AIM terms. During their time overseas, they were actively involved in encouraging national revival, establishing new church works and promoting Bible school education. Their current plans include returning to the Windward Islands along with their two beautiful daughters Mia and Sophia to continue their missions endeavor.
